MEXICO – Three Meroby students exhibited their art work throughout Maine. Cameron Payne, first grade, and Ashlynn Young, grade three, participated in the Maine Youth Excellence in Art Exhibit Project, a program which celebrates the work of Maine’s student artists. Their art was displayed in the Burton M. Cross building.

They were among many students in grades kindergarten to 12 recognized at a reception and tea on March 6 at the Blaine House in Augusta.

First Lady Karen Baldacci hosted the tea and presented the young artists with a medallion and certificate for excellence in art.

Marissa Crosby, second grade, participated in the 2007 Youth Art Month Exhibit at the Portland Museum of Art. Opening night was March 3, and the student artists were given awards for excellence in art.

Cameron’s work is a line design in the style and manner of Piet Mondrian. Ashlynn’s piece is an abstract design working with elements of space, shape and color. Marissa’s art work is a printed, cut paper cityscape. Their art teacher is Gemma Morrill-Dreher.
