LISBON – Students in the eighth grade of Marilyn Curtis’ class at Phillip W. Sugg Middle School have been learning how to handle money and checking accounts.

The math connection with the students is complimented with actual checking and saving account books, thanks to the support of the community partnership with Lisbon Community Federal Credit Union.

Students and teachers were given materials to set up their own checking accounts, study investments and learn to manage money. Students are finding that learning to budget is important and will be an essential component for successful financial planning for their future.
