WILTON – A Wilton man was released on $1,000 cash bail from a Farmington jail Thursday after he was accused of sexually abusing a Jay-Wilton area boy years ago.

William E. Donald, 58, was arrested at his home Wednesday night on a charge of felony sexual abuse of a minor, St. Laurent said.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Detective David St. Laurent said the victim came to police in March in an effort to protect others so that it wouldn’t happen to somebody else.

The county’s sexual assault, domestic violence investigator conducted an investigation and talked to the suspect prior to the arrest, St. Laurent said.

The victim told police that Donald molested him, the detective said.

Donald was initially held on $10,000 cash bail pending an appearance at Oxford County Superior Court in Paris.
