LIVERMORE FALLS – Fewer than 15 residents voted to appropriate $250,000 Monday night to replace sewer lines on several streets, including Maple, Oak, Birch and Spruce.
The project is expected to be done in conjunction with the Livermore Falls Water District’s ongoing replacement of water mains.
The approval of the warrant article during the special town meeting also authorized borrowing the $250,000 for the project.
The money will be repaid by sewer users, not taxpayers, Selectman Bill Demaray said.
“Sewer rates will not increase, and it won’t affect the taxpayers,” he said.
At an interest rate of 4.5 percent for a term not exceeding 20 years, the cost of the bond is estimated to be $362,500, including $112,500 for interest, meeting moderator and resident L. Gary Knight read from the warrant.
