DIXFIELD – Two people have returned nomination papers for two open seats on the Board of Selectmen, while only one has decided to run for two open seats on the SAD 21 school board.

Deputy Town Clerk Theresa Hemingway said incumbent Selectman Raymond Carlton is seeking a second, three-year term on the board. The Hall Hill Road resident is an employee of NewPage Corp.

Returning nomination papers for the seat vacated by former board chairman Tony Carter is first-time office seeker James Desjardins, a retired postal employee who lives on Sugarloaf Avenue.

For a seat on the SAD 21 board, only incumbent Barbara Chow has decided to run for an additional three-year term. Chow, a Webb River Drive resident, is former board chairwoman.

Incumbent Shelley Harlow did not return nomination papers.

Hemingway said selectmen will have to appoint someone to fill her position.

SAD 21 is experiencing the same difficulty filling school board seats as neighboring SAD 43. In Rumford, only two people are running for three open seats.

Elections take place on June 12.
