HAMPTON, N.H. – An Auburn man died over the weekend from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Interstate 95 near the Hampton tollbooths.
Stephen Richard, 19, had just passed through the southbound side of the Hampton tolls Saturday night when he lost control of his motorcycle and fell to the pavement, according to State Police Trooper Joseph Ebert.
“Why Richard lost control is still under investigation,” Ebert said. “We’re looking at speed and alcohol as factors just as we do with any other motor vehicle accident.”
Police and medics responded to the scene shortly after 9 p.m. and Richard was taken to Exeter Hospital in nearby Exeter.
According to Ebert, Richard was later airlifted to Boston Medical Center, where he died early Sunday morning.
An unrelated motorcycle accident in Epping, also on Saturday, resulted in the deaths of a New Hampshire man and woman.
Mark Larocque, 40, of Exeter, and Sharon Larocque, 35, of Hampton, were driving on Route 101 shortly after 3 p.m. when they hit a median, according to State Police.
Both the passenger and driver were thrown from the motorcycle. Neither of them were wearing helmets.
