New walkway

AUBURN – Gracelawn Memorial Park will dedicate the new G. Michael Welch Memorial Walkway at 1:35 p.m. Wednesday, April 25.

The walkway, named in honor of St. Dominic’ Regional High School Principal G. Michael Welch, who died in 2006, is located next to Gracelawn Memorial Park’s Mausoleum on Gracelawn Road and is across the street from St. Dominic.

In attendance at the ceremony will be the student body and faculty of St. Dominic’s as well as parents and friends of the St. Dom’s community. The program will include music and the unveiling of a plaque honoring Welch.

Kiddie night

AUBURN – The National Honor Society at Edward Little High School will hold its spring kiddie night (postponed from March 16) from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 27, at the school gym.

Face-painting, arts and crafts, sports and a spring egg hunt will be offered to students from kindergarten to sixth grade. The cost is $6 a child. Snacks will be provided.

Church auction

AUBURN – The Auburn United Methodist Church, 439 Park Ave., is holding a fundraiser auction at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 28, with auctioneer Russ Moors. Doors will open at 4:30 with a snack bar offering hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and drinks.

In addition to the live auction, there will be a silent auction for a number of items. Auction items include a day’s sailing for four out of East Boothbay aboard a 36-foot boat; 20 flex tickets to the Sea Dogs; dinner for eight served in the home; two handmade Adirondack chairs, a homemade quilt, three fleece blankets, two seasons tickets to the church’s bean suppers, a pair of watches and gift certificates from area businesses.

VFW to elect

LEWISTON – The Longley-Dionne VFW Post 9150 will meet at noon Sunday, April 29, at the Lewiston Lodge of Elks, 1675 Lisbon St. All officers and members are encouraged to attend.

The agenda will include election of officers, poppy fundraiser and veterans’ activities.

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on April 23 were: N/S, first, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; second, Paul Beegel and Les Buzzell; third, Rosemarie Goodwin and Roger Briggs; first in B, Ellie and Lindy Wigton.

E/W, first, Nancy Farmer and Anna Vitiello; second, Tom Boyer and Paul Sherman; third, Lucille Bilodeau and Luke Merry; first in B, Helen Little and Alberta Turner.

The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on April 17 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners were: first, Pat Smith and Shirley West; second, David Lock and Patricia Garcia; third, Mary Leahey and Claire Lyons.

The club also met on April 18 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in were: first, Michael and Patricia Quinn; second, John Hackett and Sharon Hinckley; third, David Lock and Martine Begert.
