AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) – Two young men from Augusta were charged with murder Wednesday in the shooting death of a man inside his apartment.

Corey Swift, 18, and Mathew Loisel, 21, face charges in connection with the shooting at a School Street apartment at about 8 p.m. Tuesday, according to Maine State Police. The victim, who was in his early 60s, died in an ambulance as it raced to the Augusta airport, where a helicopter was waiting to fly him to a Lewiston hospital. The victim’s name was not released pending notification of family members. Police did not release a motive in the shooting. Swift and Loisel were being held at the Kennebec County Jail. They were expected to make their first court appearance on Thursday or Friday.
