PARIS – Sheriff Wayne J. Gallant has announced that the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office will offer Operation Clean-Up beginning the second week of May.
The program provides clean-up of the roadways in the towns while reducing the cost of housing the inmates who participate in the program. The time the inmates spend in the Oxford County Jail is reduced as they will receive one day off their sentence for every two days worked.
Two inmate trustees will be transported and supervised by an Oxford County corrections office for litter and debris pickup for two days in each town. The trustees will be working on the sides of the roads and the jail van will be traveling with them.
Letters have been sent to every town in Oxford County offering the program, and if they choose to participate, officials are instructed to contact Lt. Lauretta Sanborn, programs director for the Oxford County Jail, at 743-5870 or [email protected].
