LEWISTON – Team L’Italien of Century 21 in Lewiston has made a pledge to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society that with every sale made by the team, they will donate $25. The commitment will continue until the end of the year.
So far, the humane society has received $375, all of which will go toward the care and sheltering of the homeless, abused and abandoned animals the shelter receives.
“We believe in the community in which we live and work and are always looking to give back to those who are less fortunate. We also love our animal companions and understand the importance they bring to our lives and families. We believe this pledge is a unique way to give back to our community and help our less fortunate animals at the same time” said L’Italien. “We hope others hear about this and are inspired to do the same.”
The society provides a haven for more than 4,000 animals a year. The primary support comes from fundraising events and donations of residents.
The shelter gives back through community services, including animal intake and adoption, animal health services, reuniting people with lost animals, humane education and working with individuals who are disadvantaged or developmentally disabled. The shelter serves 11 municipalities.
The shelter is in its new home at 55 Strawberry Ave. Those interested in learning more about volunteering at the shelter or adopting an animal should call 783-2311 or visit www.gahumane.org.
