MECHANIC FALLS – Harry W. and Beverly A. Wilson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 19.
Harry Wilson is the son of Harry Spurgeon and Gladys Izola (Holt) Wilson of Mechanic Falls. He married Beverly Ann Hill, the daughter of Delmont Eugene and Madalyn Bartlett (Thurlow) Hill, in 1957. The wedding took place at the home of Carroll and Martha Raymond of Mechanic Falls. Carroll Raymond was a justice of the peace at the time. Phil and Roxie Strout were the witnesses.
The couple resided in various places within Mechanic Falls early in their marriage, but their house on Mitchell Street was where they raised their children. That house, incidentally, has been owned by someone in the Wilson family since the early 1900s.
Children and spouses include Ryan and Karen Wilson of Auburn, Tracey and Michael Maberry of Mechanic Falls and Scott and Kanchana Wilson, currently of Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. Grandchildren include Ryan Wilson II and Brooke Wilson of Auburn, Michael Maberry and Matthew Maberry of Mechanic Falls and Rhiannon Wilson of Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland.
Mr. Wilson worked for 39 years at Central Maine Power in Lewiston and is currently retired.
Mrs. Wilson is a mother, homemaker and formerly a daycare provider for several years, and is currently retired. They enjoy traveling to visit their son, Scott, who is currently in the U.S. Air Force and has served 25 years. They have been to Germany, Hawaii, Guam, Florida, Utah and Las Vegas, Nev.
