THOMASTON – Justin Staires continued his torrid start by belting two more home runs to power Mountain Valley to a 12-1 baseball victory over Georges Valley.
The sophomore has now hit five home runs in three games.
Matt Lyons and Andy Shorey also went deep for the Falcons (3-0).
Pitchers Matt Laubauskas, Cody McPherson and Shorey combined on a three-hitter.
Poland 7, Freeport 2
POLAND – Poland was limited to four hits, but took advantage of six Freeport errors for a 7-2 triumph.
Joe Douglass ripped a double and scored twice for the Knights (4-0), while Jackie MacVane had a pair of hits. Jake Pelletier put the game out of reach with a two-run single in the sixrg.
Jake Sproul and Nick Douglass shared pitching duties for Poland.
Bee Jay Perkins suffered the loss for Freeport (1-3).
Lisbon 12, Boothbay 0
BOOTHBAY – Devan Knight had two hits, scored three runs and stole four bases to lead Lisbon to a 12-0 victory over Boothbay.
Marcus Bubar knocked in two runs with a double and Andy Ouellette ripped a two-run single. Joe Stevens pitched five innings for the win.
Morse 5, Edward Little 3
AUBURN-Morse took advantage of four Edward Little errors plating three unearned runs en-route to a 5-3 victory in a KVAC baseball tilt.
Danny Plummer went the distance for earning the win for Morse (1-2). Adam Redmond belted a home run and added a single for the Red Eddies (0-3).
Adam Lutz also added a triple for Edward Little.
Cony 5, Lewiston 4
AUGUSTA – Cony’s defense committed six errors yet still managed to prevail in a 5-4 win over Lewiston in KVAC baseball action Saturday.
Senior pitcher Ryan Dube recorded eight strike outs in five innings and took the loss for Lewiston (1-1).
Jon Paradis had a pair of hits, including a double, and tallied three RBIs for Lewiston.
