AUBURN – The First Auburn Senior Citizens meet for the annual anniversary dinner on Wednesday, May 2, at the Martindale Country Club. Doors will open at 11 a.m. Charles Marshall will present a musical program.
When the group met April 18 under the direction of President Caroline Chapman, there were 64 present. Those having birthdays in April were introduced and the “Happy Birthday Song” was sung.
Joyce Poole, trip chairwoman, reminded members of the trips taking place throughout the year and stated for those interested in more information or making reservations should see her or Co-Chairwoman Doris Michael at the First Auburn Seniors meetings or by calling her at 784-3429 or Michael at 782-6962.
Auburn Parks and Recreation Department has a day trip for seniors on Friday, May 4, to the Christmas Tree Shop in South Portland; transportation, $10; with lunch on own. For sign-ups and details, phone 784-0191.
Mayor John Jenkins of Auburn made a brief visit to the meeting to acquaint himself to the seniors program and to introduce himself.
Patricia Edwards was the winner of the “delayed” Easter hat parade and was awarded a small purse of money. Attendance prize winners were Grace McDaniel and Ralph Lashua; pot of gold, Betty Hebert and Norma Masse. A lasagna dinner and dessert were served following the meeting, and bingo was played after that.
