WEST PARIS – Selectmen may be ready to announce a finalist to replace Town Manager Donald Woodbury by their May 10 meeting, said Chairman Bill Birney.

The board received resumes from 12 candidates and interviewed nine during the first round of the selection process, Birney said.

“As for the resumes they are all very good, and it is going to be a difficult job making a decision,” he said.

A second round of interviews is planned this week, Birney said.

“By having the second round of interviews during the week of May 1 we can give our final choice a chance to negotiate salary and benefits with us before our May 10 meeting so we probably will be able to announce a replacement for Don at that time,” said Birney.

Woodbury resigned in late March for personal reasons after losing both his mother and his wife during the past year. He said he has enjoyed his two years as manager, “but I need some time for myself for a while.”

In other business last week, selectmen decided to post specifications for a paving job on Tuelltown Road set for this summer and advertise for bids. Bid specification sheets are available at the town office during regular hours.
