BRUNSWICK – “Metal: The Art of Force,” an exhibit organized by the New England School of Metalwork of Auburn, will be on view May 5 through June 6, at Bowdoin College.
The school specializes in the training and education of the welding and blacksmithing industries. The exhibition will feature the artwork by many prominent artists who have taught at the school, as well as by students who have attended classes there.
An opening reception and silent auction to benefit the school’s scholarship and apprenticeship program for blacksmithing and welding will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 5, in Moulton Union, Lancaster Lounge.
More than 40 juried artists from around the country have donated their artworks in metal for the auction.
Exhibition hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except when Lancaster Lounge is in use for a campus meeting. Admission is free. For more information, call 725-3375.
