Garage sale
LEWISTON – An eight-location garage sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, May 4, and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 5, to benefit Advocates for Children, whose mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect throughout Androscoggin County.
The locations are 35 Fortin Way, Lewiston; 21 Oakland St, Auburn; 54 Linden St. Auburn; 92 Fern St.Auburn; 26 Summit St. Auburn; 58 Amberley Way, Auburn; 25 Riverside Dr., Auburn; and 261 Beech Hill Rd. Auburn. Those who visit each site will be entered into a drawing for a $50 cash prize.
Sodality breakfast
LEWISTON – The St. Patrick’s Rosary Sodality will hold a Communion and breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, May 6. Members will attend Mass in the church followed by a light breakfast for members and their families.
The sodality meeting on Tuesday, May 8, will start with recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel. A new member will be installed followed by a business meeting in the Msgr. Fitzpatrick room.
Guest speaker will be Claire Gagnon, who was a chaperone with the St. Dominic Regional High School student trip to Mississippi. Refreshments will be served.
Society supper
BOWDOIN – The Bowdoin Historical Society will meet on Sunday, May 6, at FHC Inc., Main Street. A potluck supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting will start at 6 p.m.
Charlene Bartlett of Lisbon Falls will give the program on “Rationing During World War II.” All are welcome. Those who lived through those times are welcome to share their stories.
Supper deadline
LISBON – VFW Post 9459 will host a supper from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 4, at its post home, Route 196. Cutoff date for tickets is Wednesday, May 2. The menu will be ham or chicken with all the fixings, coffee or tea. The price is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10. To reserve a meal or more information, call 353-4879. Following the meal, installation of new post and auxiliary officers will be held.
Fortier Chapter
LEWISTON – The Dr. Paul Fortier Chapter 52, Association Canado-Americaine, will gather at 7 p.m. Monday, May 7, in the Senior Citizens Room, Multi-Purpose Center.
Included on the meeting agenda will be the annual election of officers. Also discussed will be details about the Soiree de Chansons the chapter is sponsoring on Thursday, May 10, at the Lewiston Public Library featuring Montreal folk musician Benoit Bourque.

Rebekahs to meet
AUBURN – Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, May 7, in the activities room at the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Home, 85 Caron Lane. All Rebekahs in the area are invited to Friendship Night.
A buffet of sandwiches, salads and desserts will start the evening. The program will be made up of offerings from the guest and host members. The business meeting will begin at 7 p.m.
The program planned for the last meeting, which was not held due to weather conditions, will honor the past noble grands and veteran members of the lodge. It will also be Brothers Night. The Odd Fellow Lodge members are invited and will be honored. There will be an opportunity for members to tell of their plans for the Living Legacy program, when members are encouraged to “Plant a Tree for One Who Comes After Me,” a program of the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs internationally.
A collection will be taken to support Camp NEOFA, Montville, run by the Northeast Odd Fellows Association.
Anniversary meal
LEWISTON – The Sacred Heart Golden Age Club will have its anniversary dinner at Marco’s Restaurant at noon Tuesday, May 8. Doors will open at 11 a.m. Reservations will be taken no later than Friday, May 4, by calling Paula at 576-4082 or Irene at 782-6443.
OES program
MECHANIC FALLS – Dwinal Chapter 28, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, at the Masonic Hall, 474 South Main St. The meeting will be Grand Representative Night and members will honor Patricia Hodgdon, grand representative of Missouri in Maine, and Bruce MacDonald, grand representative of Scotland in Maine. The meeting will be preceded by a 6:30 p.m. supper. All members of the order are invited.
MS speaker
LEWISTON – The MS Support Group and Caregivers will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, at the Lepage Conference Center, 99 Campus Ave. The guest speaker will be Samuel Mark Mathis, attorney at law, who specializes in social security appeals.
