Concerts bring music to students

KINGFIELD – The Kingfield POPS brought the Bangor Symphony Orchestra Music Outreach Program to schools in Franklin County recently, reaching more than 1,500 students. Four concerts were performed throughout SAD 58 and SAD 9.

The mission of the Kingfield POPS is to encourage music education as well as provide musically enriching experiences to area youth. The concerts, in addition to the June 30 Kingfield POPS concert, were focused on that goal.

Students were entertained for an hour by the Franklin Fiddlers, Abbott Hill Ramblers of Dexter and Kruger Brothers of North Carolina. Members of the Kruger Brothers encouraged youths to take up playing a musical instrument if they were looking for a new thrill.
