FARMINGTON – Pongo is a sweetheart who is named after one of the Dalmatians in the Walt Disney movie, said Franklin County Animal Shelter staff.

Staff said he is affectionate, rubbing against legs and trying to jump into arms. He also knows the sound of canned cat food being opened and he will be overly affectionate to get his little treat.

Pongo does well with other cats, but has not been tested around dogs.

New dogs at the shelter include a shitzu mix from Jay.

For the third year, the shelter will hold a kitten shower. There will be prizes, games, refreshments, entertainment and fun facts about kittens. The shower will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at the North Dining Hall, University of Maine at Farmington.

People are invited to bring kitten chow, litter, toys, canned food, kitten formula, kitten bottles and anything kitten-related. For more information on adoption or the shower, call 778-2638.
