BETHEL – How Maine people influenced the history and developmnet of Hawaii will be the topic of a lecture by Paul T. Burlin, Ph.D, dean of the college of arts and sciences at the University of New England in Biddeford, Thursday, May 10.

Burlin’s topic, “Maine-Hawaiian Connections,” explores the numerous family ties between Maine, the 23rd state in the Union, and the 50th state.

His speech, to be given at 7:30 p.m. in the Dr. Moses Mason House, is the first of the 2007 series of lectures sponsored by the Bethel Historical Society. This year’s series is titled “Maine Character and Characters.”
