I am very disappointed to read in the newspaper that the Androscoggin County Commissioners are not supporting Sheriff Guy Desjardins in hiring another officer for night duty.
I live in Turner, and I’m very concerned, as a citizen, for the welfare of the officer, on night duty alone with no backup support. What would he really be able to do if anybody in the county needed help?
If the commissioners are concerned about enough funds to support the extra officer, they should contact the Legislature and governor for support. We are talking about very basic needs here. I would hope that other residents of the county would also give input to legislators about this subject.. There is strength in numbers.
Any one of us could be in need, some day. I sure hope the help will be available.
