DURHAM – The state fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of fire that extensively damaged a mobile home on Hallowell Road on Monday night.

Fire Chief Bill St. Michel said Tuesday that the cause of the fire is unknown. His preliminary estimate of loss is $60,000 to the home and contents.

The property is owned by Roy DeWitt and rented by Malcolm McIntosh and Laurie Cartwright, who have two children, ages 7 and 2, St. Michel said.
