GREENWOOD – Oxford County Deputy Sheriff Bill Nelson is investigating the theft of a racing-type ATV and other items valued at more than $10,000 from property on Rowe Hill Road last week.

The thief went through the front door of the house and left with $5,000 worth of jewelry, money and other items, the deputy said. The culprit left on a blue 2005 Yamaha Banshee 350 ATV stored in a garage. It was not registered.

The two-stroke model is a racing-type machine with loud exhaust and valued at $5,800, he said.

Nelson said he collected evidence from the scene.

A witness saw someone driving the ATV down Rowe Hill Road soon after it was stolen, he said.

The burglary and thefts were discovered by the owner after returning home. It was reported at 5:43 p.m. May 7, Nelson said.
