NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Jean Turner, 91, passed away Wednesday, May 2, at her home in Florida.
She was born December 1915, in Fall River Mass., the daughter of the late John and Mary (Juda) Petrosky. Although born in Mass., she spent her childhood in Lisbon. The family moved to Glens Falls in 1935.
A longtime Glens Falls resident, she trained as a beautician and worked in that profession throughout her life. She married her late husband, Joseph Turner in 1968, and moved to North Miami Beach Fla. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, honeymooning in Europe for six months and later touring Israel. She and her husband owned several beauty salons in the Miami Beach area for many years.
She was an active participant in life, pursuing her interest in tennis and golf throughout her life. Her last golf game was in March of this year. During her husband’s final years, she devoted herself to maintaining his health and activity in the best way possible. After his death in 1990, she renewed her interest in music by teaching herself piano and taking violin lessons.
Survivors include a nephew, Steven Johnson, and his wife, Christine, of Glens Falls; a niece, Vicki Johnson of La Jolla, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Marlene Greenfield, and her husband, Mal, of Tallahassee Fla.; many great-nephews and nieces; as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren of her late husband.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Carolyn Petrosky; and a sister and brother-in-law, Rose (Petrosky) and Leonard Johnson.
