Children’s author visits with students

WILTON – Toni Buzzeo of Buxton, a writer of children’s books and professional books for teachers and librarians, visited schools and the library on May 10 and 11.

The author presented two workshops May 10. In the morning she presented “The Story Behind the Story” at Academy Hill School. Using two of her books as examples, Buzzeo showed third- through eighth-graders the importance of doing research for both authors and illustrators.

Thursday evening, Buzzeo presented “The Author’s Path” at the Wilton Free Public Library. Using photographs and stories, she shared her journey from shy child to published author with about 20 parents, children, teachers and library staff.

On Friday, Buzzeo did puppet and flannel board play for preschool and kindergarten students at Cushing School.

Buzzeo lives in Buxton. A former teacher and library media specialist, she has written six children’s books, seven professional titles and a number of articles. In 1999 she was named Maine Library Media Specialist of the Year.
