The American Legion baseball season is just around the corner and several area teams are making plans for the upcoming campaign.

Tryouts for the Bessey Motors team are scheduled for Sunday, May 20 at the Gouin Complex at South Paris. Eligible are players born on or after January 1, 1988, and who attend either Oxford Hills High School or Fryeburg Academy. Players are required to provide an original birth certificate at the tryout. The 2007 fee will be $40 for those selected to the team.

Tryouts for the Post 150 team of Mechanic Falls are set for Sunday, May 20 at 3 p.m. at Poland Regional High School. Eligible are players from PRHS or Lake Region High School and who were born in 1988 or younger. This year there will also be a Junior Legion team, for players born in 1990 or later, and can reside anywhere. Head Coach Walter Cary can be reached at 632-7790. Registration for the Andy Valley team of Turner is scheduled for Sunday, May 20 at 6 p.m. at Tripp Middle School gym.

Eligible are residents of Greene, Leeds, Turner, Buckfield, Livermore and Jay.
