WILTON – The Police Department will launch its community outreach program with two public meetings and an open house this week, police Chief Dennis Brown said Friday.

Residents are invited to the meetings to discuss public safety concerns, he said, and to start to develop processes and solutions to effectively deal with those issues.

“We will also listen to other concerns that the people may have, introduce the Police Department and provide the community with our long-term goals and plans of operation,” Brown said.

The meetings are being held at different locations for the convenience of residents, but anyone is welcome to attend any or all of them, he said.

The first will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at the United Baptist Church in East Dixfield, downstairs in the conference room.

The second will be held Friday, May 25, at the Wilton Congregational Church. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the program starting at 7 p.m. The church is at 386 Main St.

An open house/community meeting is planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at the Police Department. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served, Brown said.

For more information about any of the meetings, phone Brown at the Police Department at 645-3876.
