AUBURN – The public is invited to attend Gracelawn Memorial Park’s annual Memorial Day program at 12:15 p.m. Monday, May 28.
The program will include the customary flag-raising ceremony. The U.S. flag will be raised, accompanied by a bugle solo of Taps and cannon fire provided by VFW Post 1603 of Auburn. The flag of each branch of the armed services and the Maine state flag will be raised by members of the Rolling Thunder motorcycle club. As each flag is raised, Kathy Haley will lead those present in singing the anthem of that branch.
“The Star-Spangled Banner” will be sung by recent St. Dominic Regional High School graduate Adam Blais. A wreath will be placed at the U.S. flagpole by representatives of veterans’ organizations.
Detective Scott Bradeen of the Lewiston Police Department will play the bagpipes accompanied on the tenor drum by his wife, Ellie.
The program will conclude with a group singing of “God Bless America.”
