JAY – A man was arrested early Wednesday after police say he threatened them, broke windows in his trailer, busted furniture and threw some of it at paramedics.
Police Chief Larry White Sr. said Wednesday that Leon Dalot Jr., 50, of Franklin Road, was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
Dalot called for an ambulance about 12:24 a.m., White said, and police responded as they normally do to ambulance calls.
When officer Anthony Duvall arrived, Dalot was somewhat intoxicated and belligerent, using foul language at officers and threatening them, White said.
Dalot started breaking windows and breaking up furniture, throwing some of it at paramedics and threatening officers with physical harm, White said.
At one point, Dalot brought out his dog, known to be aggressive after it had bitten in the past, White said.
Duvall was able to clear medics from the residence and called in backup to assist him and Franklin County Sheriff’s Cpl. Nathan Bean at the scene, the chief said.
Dalot managed to confine the dog, White said, and officers were able to arrest Dalot, who was somewhat resistant but taken under control and placed in custody.
At some point, paramedics determined Dalot didn’t need to be treated. He was taken to Franklin County jail in Farmington.
He was being held Wednesday on $3,000 unsecured bail and was expected to appear in 12th District Court in Farmington later in the day.
He is also scheduled to appear in the Farmington court on July 19, White said.
Assisting Duvall at the scene besides Bean were Wilton officer Al Cooper, and Maine State Police Troopers Matt Casavant and Scott Dalton.
White said the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office will review the case and charges.
