MEXICO – Region 9 School of Applied Technology will readvertise for a director to run the vocational school.
Board members and the Screening Committee held a special meeting Tuesday night to decide whether to take another look into the pool of applicants submitted a couple of months ago or to seek new candidates, said Chairman Norman Clanton.
The deadline for submitting applications is June 22. The position is expected to be advertised in several local and statewide newspapers.
The person who had been the board’s top candidate declined the position earlier in the week. That finalist was chosen from a field of six candidates.
Incumbent director David Driscoll will retire from his position at the end of June. He has held the position for more than two years.
Clanton said the board will again use the services of the Maine School Management Association in its search for a new director. The cost last time was just under $400. Clanton said it will likely be less this time.
He said he is working out details of putting an interim director into place. The board may also call another special meeting to discuss the interim process.
