Genealogy meet
FARMINGTON – The Sandy River Valley Chapter, Maine Genealogy Society, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at the Farmington Public Library. Fred O. Smith will talk about the town of New Vineyard, with emphasis on the history of the town. Anyone with an interest in genealogy is welcome to attend.
Church cookout
FARMINGTON – Old South First Congregational Church will serve a free community luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 9. The menu will include sausages with onions and peppers, hamburgers, hot dogs, coleslaw, cookies and bars. It is the traditional end-of-the-year cookout and will be the last community lunch until October.
Delivery service will be available in the Farmington area. Call the church office at 778-0424 during the week or the church kitchen at 778-4438 on the morning of the luncheon for delivery.
Annual meeting
WILTON – The Foothills Land Conservancy annual meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at the American Legion Hall.
The speaker will be Chuck Hulsey, wildlife biologist for Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. All are invited to attend.
Spaghetti supper
PHILLIPS – A spaghetti supper will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 15, at the Community House. Tickets of $5 will include bread, salad, dessert and beverage. Proceeds will benefit the Shared Ministry Women.
Lions yard sale
WILTON – The Wilton Lions Club annual giant yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, June 22, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 23, and 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, June 24, next to the Big Apple gas station, Routes 2 and 4.
There will be hot dogs and soda. All proceeds will support local charities, scholarships and local communities. Call James Cote at 491-3821 for more information.
Cleanup day
WILTON – The Foothills Land Conservancy cleanup day was a success. On the conservancy land at the corner of Pond Road and Route 156, volunteers removed 12 bags of trash, one tire and one road sign with its metal bracket. A fallen telephone pole and wires were discovered as well as the location of the old dump.
Among those present were Susan and Tom Withrow, Irene L. Deschenes, Cynthia Harkleroad, Ruth Evans, Nancy Prince, Pete and Judy Schmitt, and Linda Seabold and her daughter, Chelsea, 5.
