Dear Sun Spots: I have a rather unusual problem.

I live in a very small community with outlining areas equally small in the way of specialty shops. I have designed an affordable line of jewelry consisting of Maine sea glass and shells, fossil minerals and other materials, all hand-wrapped with above average precious metal wire. My foray in consigning some pieces to a store ended up with a somewhat unpleasant experience. The shop went out of business, without notifying me and it’s anyone’s guess what happened to those pieces I placed in trust with the owner. I am not a computer-savvy person so trying to sell online is way out of my ability. My question is how does one find a list of established, independent specialty shop owners here in Maine who might be willing to take a chance on local crafts people? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for such an interesting and informative section of the Sun Journal. I may be reached via e-mail at mainelyndwyers@aol.com. – No Name, No Town.

Answer:
Sun Spots wonders if you’ve checked into any of the local fairs and church craft fairs? You might consider that close to the holiday season.

In the meantime, you might consider checking out the following to see if they might be interested in carrying/exhibiting your jewelry products. Hopefully this will get you started.

Dear Sun Spots: We at the Universalist Church of Greene are writing again to ask for your readers’ donations to our yard sale. In the past few years their donations have greatly contributed to the success of our event. We have a small, devoted congregation, and the proceeds have allowed us to keep our church open year-round and to build on a Sunday school room. In addition all proceeds from the sale of food and lemonade at our Sunday school’s table will go to the Heifer Fund, which is the charity that they support.

If you have any items to donate, please call Pat or George at 946-5052, or Heidi at 225-5181 to arrange for drop-off or pick-up time.

Our sale will be held at the church on Route 202 on Friday, June 22, and Saturday, June 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In advance, thank you for your support, and thank you, Sun Spots, for the opportunity to connect us to your readers. – The Universalist Church of Greene, Greene.
