Christian academy graduates five

LEWISTON – The Central Maine Christian Academy recently held its graduation ceremony at the South Lewiston Baptist Church. Commencement exercises were held for the school’s five seniors: John Field Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John Field; Joel Marchand, son of Gary Marchand and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Boisse; John Gray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Barry Gray; Mark Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Jones; and Daniel Ouellette, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Ouellette. Students honored their senior classmates through songs and tributes they had written to the seniors. It was followed by a slide show of each of the graduates’ lives. Then high school teacher and youth leader Mike Nyberg presented the commencement address, “Facing the World.” The diplomas were awarded by Administrator Patricia St. Hilaire, board member David St. Hilaire and members of the high school staff, Tammy Paquette, Nyberg and Michele Hall. Special recognition was given to graduating senior Daniel Ouellette for receiving second honors for the quarter as well as perfect attendance all year. He also received the President’s Education Award for having honors for all four quarters of the school year. Senior Joel Marchand was presented ribbons for receiving the highest scores in the ACSI northeast math competition in calculus and geometry, while John Field received recognition for scoring second place in the pre-calculus division. Following the benediction given by Nyberg, relatives and friends joined the graduates and their parents in a receiving line and reception held in their honor.
