FARMINGTON – Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District has announced that 10 of the 15 state winners selected in the Maine Association of Conservation District’s contest are from posters that were sent on to the state.

All district winners received certificates, plus first-place winners received a $50 savings bond and the second- and third-place winners received flowering shrubs. The state district will award certificates and medallions to all the winners.

Local winners were:

Grades kindergarten and one: second, Nathaniel Blauvelt, W. G. Mallett School.

Grades two and three: second, Katherine Blauvelt, home schooled; third, Kristen Davis, Cape Cod Hill School.

Grades four and six: first, Roland Venter, home schooled; third, Brandon Thompson, Cascade Brook School.

Grades seven to nine: first, Sylvie Venter, home schooled; second, Dustin Thompson, and third, Ashlie Hardy, both of Mt. Blue High School.

Grades 10 to 12: second, Ellen Clark, and third, Marjorie Hardy, both of Mt. Blue High School.
