Scout dinner

PARIS – A spaghetti dinner will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at the First Congregational Church, East Main Street, Paris. Proceeds will be used for the Boy Scout Troop 130 Summer Camp Fund

The dinner will include spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. Carry-out is available. Cost is adults, $6; children, $4.

This year Camp Hines is celebrating its 80th season and the centennial of Scouting worldwide. The camp offers outdoor programs to build character, citizenship and fitness.

Park concert

OXFORD – Anderson-Staples Post 112, American Legion, will present a Concert in the Park at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at the Oxford Veterans Memorial Park, Route 121, King Street. Music will be by Lola Lee and the Country Bandits. It will be held rain or shine. Donations will be accepted and refreshments will be available. Women to meet

PARIS – The Christian Women United will meet at the First Congregational Church on Tuesday, June 19. Luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m. The special guest will be Del Parker of Andover, country gospel singer who won the Traditional Gospel of the Year Award. Grange meeting

WOODSTOCK – A meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 18, at Franklin Grange 124.

Society speaker

PARIS – The Paris Cape Historical Society will be meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at the museum, 77 High St. The speaker will be Stephen Cummings, who will talk on “Raising Blueberries in Maine.” Refreshments will be served.

The society will hold a yard sale at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 9, at the museum. The museum will be open Friday, July 6, to receive donations.

WEST PARIS – A meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at West Paris Grange 298, 4 Church St.

Yard sale

PARIS – A yard sale by kids, for kids and about kids will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. There will be games, prizes and food.

The event is being organized by Moss Brook Church and the Oxford Advent Christian Church on behalf of “A Gift for Kids,” a group that raises money for kids in Kenya, Africa, devastated by the AIDS epidemic. To book a table, donate toys or for more information, call Loreda Wheeler at 743-6082.

Ham radio day

OXFORD – Oxford County Amateur Radio Emergency Service/Community Emergency Response Team will participate in the Ham Radio Field Day from 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23, to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at His Place Teen Center, 254 Webber Brook Road.

The field day is designed to encourage amateur radio operators to set up their equipment in a temporary location to develop their emergency communication skills.

96 years young

WOODSTOCK – Alice Kennison of Perkins Valley, Woodstock, celebrated her 96th birthday on May 29 at the home of her daughter, Carol Cox. An open house was held from 2 to 5 p.m. Many relatives and friend attended. Cox and granddaughters, Diedre True and Michelle Cox, served a buffet lunch.

Church event

HEBRON – Hebron Community Baptist Church invites area children from kindergarten through sixth grade to “Raise the Reef Praises” from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Monday and Tuesday, June 22, 25 and 26.
