Eighth-graders share their book creations

PARIS – Eighth-grade Team 4 at Oxford Hills Middle School recently completed a children’s book unit and, as a culminating activity, they shared their books with fourth-graders from Paris Elementary School.

A presentation began the visit in which a panel of students discussed the book-creating process of first selecting a theme, developing characters and setting and matching text to illustrations.

Students also discussed various ways to problem-solve obstacles such as illustrating or matching story to theme.

In addition to sharing their books, eighth-graders invited their reading buddies to lunch and presented each buddy with a handmade bookmark. They ended the afternoon with an outdoor recess before the fourth-graders boarded the bus back to their school.
