LEWISTON – L/A Arts Gallery 5 hosts the third Artist Talk for the exhibit “Beyond the Palette” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 28. The featured artists are Jeff Soifer and Kay McKeever Allison.

Soifer, a partner and creative director of Encompass Marketing Design, has taken an unconventional path to a career in design; he holds degrees in business administration and law.

His whimsical drawings and the creative presentation of his artwork is inspiring.

Allison is a teacher at Lewiston Middle School. In college she focused her work on oil painting but her current passion is fusing glass in a kiln. After taking classes at the Maine Art Glass Studio in Lisbon she began to see the parallels of layering paints and layering glass. She adds details to each layer and controls the firing to achieve a certain look in the small landscapes that she creates.

Artist Talks are informal opportunities presented by Gallery 5 to learn from artists and engage in a conversation about their work.
