OXFORD – Upcoming summer events for the Thompson Lake Environmental Association include a Motorless Regatta, Annual Meeting and a Pig Roast.

The regatta takes place Saturday, July 21, from 9:30 a.m. to approximately noon on Thompson Lake (bordering the towns of Oxford, Otisfield, Casco and Poland). Rain and wind date are Saturday, July 28. Postponements will be announced on radio at WOXO in Norway and Channels 6, 8, and 13 Community News as well as by phone message at the TLEA office at 539-4535 or by checking out the Thompson Lake Marina.

Boat registration and start of the Regatta will be 9:30 a.m. at the Thompson Lake Marina, at the south end of the lake, owned by John Littlefield and operated by Tyler Littlefield. Participants from any area are encouraged to paddle, row or sail in the regatta and may launch from any location on the lake after registering from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Boats will finish at Pismo Beach in Oxford. A cookout with hot dogs and hamburgers follows at noon. The cost is $5 per person. All proceeds support TLEA programs. FMI call the office at 539-4535 or Sharon Rice at 998-2088.

The TLEA Annual Meeting will be held at Kamp Kohut in Oxford on Saturday, August 4 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The featured speaker will be a guest biologist from the Audubon Society of Maine who will talk about loons. Nominations for directors will also be voted upon and other lake environmental information will be presented. TLEA items will be for sale. For more information call the office.

The Second Annual TLEA Pig Roast will be held on Saturday, Aug 18 from noon through 2:30 p.m. at Agassiz Village Camp, West Poland on the Johnson Hill Road. All residents of the Thompson Lake Watershed are invited. The menu features roast pig, corn on the cob, baked beans, potatoes, rolls, beverages and dessert. The cost is $15 per adult, children eat free. Proceeds will support TLEA Lake Programs. FMI call the office or Tony Caggiano at 539-4864.
