Criminal Mischief
A vehicle window was damaged outside of 28 Sarah Ave. overnight June 19-20.
A vehicle and garden outside of 6 Hillview Apartments were vandalized overnight June 19-20.
A mailbox at 4 Ann St. was smashed with a baseball bat overnight June 21-22.
A house at 30 Central Ave. was spray painted with graffiti overnight June 21-22.
Theft
A gazing ball was stolen from the front lawn of 29 School St. overnight June 19-20.
Motor Vehicle Theft
A Red 2006 Toyota Tacoma Pickup – ME REG 2255PA was stolen from in front of 172 Blake St. between 10 a.m. on June 19 and 5:30 a.m. on June 20. The vehicle was parked and locked, however the keys are also missing.
Burglaries
A storage unit at Sabattus St. Self Storage was burglarized and had property stolen from it sometime in the last couple of weeks.
On June 21 at 10:55a.m., Officer Rousseau observed a subject riding a bicycle through the intersection of College St./Russell St. As he attempted to field interview him, the subject ditched the bike and fled on foot. A subsequent search of the area revealed numerous vehicles which had their dome lights on and a garage at 151 Pettingil St. which had been opened. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.
A resident of 188 Grove St. discovered damage consistent with someone making numerous attempts to force entry into their home. This occurred overnight June 20-21.
Nigerian Scam
On June 20 at noon, a senior citizen at 10 Oak St. received a phone solicitation from a subject offering a special card for all Senior Citizens in the United States. He then attempted to coerce her bank account number in order to set up her account. Fortunately, she did not fall victim to the scam.
Habitual Offender Notification
Jason Bray (29) has a suspended license with habitual offender status. He has 13 previous suspensions on his driver’s record. His last known address is 44 Wood St. in Lewiston. If you see this individual driving, please notify us immediately.
Flim Flammer Arrest
Juan Cazals (52) was arrested for theft by deception and an extraditable warrant out of Morris County, N.J. on June 20 at 10:00 a.m. Officers responded to the area for a report that a male was chasing another male on Lisbon St. The two subjects were running into traffic and at one point climbed over a car that was witnessing the debacle. Cazals was eventually detained in the parking lot of Portland Glass until police could arrive. He had been identified by the Key Bank manager as the suspect in a theft at the Augusta branch the day previous. His gimmick is to ask for $20 bills in exchange for 100s, when they hand him the 20s he tells him that he wanted traveler’s checks and hands the 20s back, but not before he palms some of them. He then says he is late for an appointment and has to leave. Augusta had alerted other area branches and had sent a photo of the suspect. When he entered Lewiston’s, he was immediately recognized. The warrant out of N.J. was for fraud, he also has a history of armed robbery.
Operating After Suspension Arrest
Jeffrey Kerr (42) was arrested for operating after suspension and violating a protection order on June 21 at 10:18 p.m. at 345 Main St. Officers responded for an accident and discovered Kerr and the protected person from an abuse order in one of the vehicles.
Weapons Arrest
Derek Smith (25) was arrested for violating conditions of release and carrying a concealed weapon on June 20 at 2 a.m. at 248 Park St. Officers responded here for a loud party. Upon arrival, they found Smith to be highly intoxicated and drinking a beer in the officer’s presence, which was a violation of his bail conditions. Upon searching him, a 12-inch double bladed knife was found concealed in his front pocket.
