LEWISTON – The Timothy J. Mynahan Foundation announces the TJM Scholarship recipient for 2007 is Chantel McLellan, a graduate of Lewiston High School. The scholarship award is $2,500.

Criteria for selection of the scholarship are based on academic and athletic excellence and commendable leadership ability.

McLellan is a four-year varsity athlete. She was a member of the State Championship Cheering Team during her junior and senior years and involved in competitive cheering throughout high school. She further achieved athletic recognition and distinction as a recipient of the Cheering Coaches Award for two consecutive years. Her leadership and athletic ability are acknowledged by being chosen for the Sports Done Right Leadership Academy.

Academically, McLellan achieved excellence during her high school years through commitment and work ethic that placed her in the top 10 percent of her graduating class. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society and a Student Council member. In recognition of her numerous achievements she was the recipient of the President’s Education Award, National Scholar/Athlete Award, Daughters of American Revolution Good Citizenship Award, Norman Dionne Medal and the Alumni Scholarship. She has also demonstrated a strong sense of community involvement as a volunteer for MCCP and the Big Brother, Big Sister organization.

McLellan is attending Assumption College in Worcester, Mass., in the fall. She is the daughter of Sean and Monique McLellan of Lewiston.
