PARIS – The Paris Utility District will receive $8 million in rural development funds at a presentation scheduled for 1 p.m. today at the district building on Paris Hill Road.
The “big check” ceremony will present Earth Day funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development efforts for upgrades and renovations to the wastewater treatment facility. According to a statement from Emily Cannon, public affairs specialist with USDA Rural Development, the money will be used for modifications to the industrial treatment system and pump station upgrades.
The district will also receive recognition as a USDA Rural Development Environmental Steward for its efforts to prevent pollution of the Androscoggin River.
