This is in response to the article written about the Holy Roller Express accident. Staff writer Christopher Williams stated in the June 22 paper that “apparently God was not Rev. Doug Taylor’s co-pilot,” but I see it very differently.
God was definitely in the van with Taylor and Japheth, and also in the car with the rest of his family, because if he was not, Taylor could have rear-ended the car instead of just from the side and the damage and injuries would have been much worse, maybe even someone being killed.
After an accident that bad, they were still able to go on vacation and take a much-needed break instead of having to spend time in the hospital – or the morgue. You can always look at the worst in a situation or you can choose to see where God was definitely watching over them. God does not always protect us from our own mistakes but he will always get the glory for it in the end if we will look for it.
That van has safely made many trips to pick up kids and bring them to a place where they are taught the truth about who Jesus really is, and it will continue to do so. You cannot even name on one hand any family who has committed their lives to serving the inner city like the Taylors.
