PARIS – The Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, in conjunction with the Western Maine Veterans Advisory Committee and Maine Veterans Home, is holding a barbecue dinner at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 20, at the veterans home on High Street to honor Myron Pierce, a decorated veteran of World War II and Korea. Pierce rose from the ranks from private to battalion commander.
Myron was a teacher for 18 years at Oxford Hills High School. He worked tirelessly to establish the Maine Veterans Home in Paris. He has served on the board of trustees for the Maine Veterans Homes, having been appointed by former Gov. John McKernan and reappointed by former Gov. Angus King.
