Who would have thought that the beginning of our first vacation in years would turn out to be newsworthy? Though we are no strangers to the newspaper, this is not exactly the press we would look for.

On Friday, June 22, to our surprise, fellow campers at our vacation spot came running over to us with a copy of an article titled, “‘Holy Roller Express’ smashes family car.” Staff writer Christopher Williams’ statements were humorous when he said God apparently wasn’t Rev. Douglas Taylor’s co-pilot when he smashed his van into the family car.

Looking back on the event and how tragic it could have turned out, his concern for our well-being was thoughtful and his humor was refreshing.

Though the Bible does not say anything about God being our co-pilot, it does say in 2 Corinthians 1:3 that God is the Father of all mercies and the God of all comfort.

A family that prays together stays together, even if they crash with one another.

The Rev. Douglas Taylor, Lewiston
