PHILLIPS – Gregory S. Mitchell of Phillips has recently been meritoriously promoted to sergeant by the U.S. Marine Corps. This is his second meritorious promotion in less than one year.

Sgt. Mitchell enlisted in October of 2004 and is stationed with the 1/8 Bravo Co. Weapons Platoon at Camp Lejeune, N.C. Deployment to Iraq is scheduled for September.

Greg, wife Heather and daughters Dulcie and Cadence reside in Jacksonville, N.C. He is the son of Brian and Joyce Mitchell of Phillips and Christine Mitchell of Jay.
