TURNER – More than 850 American flags will be waving proudly at the registered office of the Turner Veterans Council located at 451 Lower St. from July 4 to 8.

The flags will make up a Healing Field of Honor. The field will be set up to remember the servicemen and women who have defended or are currently serving our country and will also memorialize the men and women who have lost their lives in the Middle East conflicts.

“I think we need this. I think Americans need more of this, Maine needs more of this, and certainly our town needs more of this to take the time to pause and remember and reflect,” said Executive Director Paul Bernard.

The Turner Veterans Council is looking for donors to support establishing a veterans memorial park.

Applications will also be available to all eligible veterans interested in joining the American Legion.
