I think St. Theresa’s Parish in Mexico should remain open.

Parents in Mexico, like mine, built that church with their hands, volunteering and with years of offerings. We had baptisms, confirmations, graduations, marriages and funerals. It was our world.

Whenever there was need, the priest would present it at Mass. It was taken care of and paid for. The roof doesn’t leak, the elevator works, the parking lot is ideal and needs but little work, though the siding could use some paint.

All that would cost a small fraction of the $850,000 being presented to parishoners to consider. We could extend the church back and include the existing classrooms, thus accommodating many more for Mass, and the cost would not come near the estimated $850,000.

We are a community of retired people living on fixed incomes. We must enlist the support of the bishop to keep the parish open.
