PARIS – The Norway-Paris Kiwanis annual pancake breakfast and flea market will be held from 7 to 11 a.m. Sunday, July 8, under the big tents at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children.

Church supper

WATERFORD – A public supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at the North Waterford Congregational Church, located on the Five Kezars Road. The menu will include baked beans, American chop suey, casseroles, salads, brown bread, rolls, beverages and strawberry shortcake for dessert. The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12.

Regular Sunday worship services are being held at 10 a.m. at the North Waterford Congregational Church during July. Bible study is at 9:15 a.m. Sunday before the regular worship service.

Yard sale

PARIS – The Paris Cape Historical Society previously announced a yard sale to be held Saturday, July 7. The date has been changed to Saturday, July 14, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine.

Someone will be at the museum at 77 High St. on Thursday afternoons, July 5 and 12, and on Friday afternoon, July 13, to receive donations.

Ice cream social

PARIS – The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club July dance will be an ice cream social from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at the Oxford Hills Middle School, with John Thompson calling mainstream and plus level for the square dancing. Bernie Porter will cue the round dancing. Casual attire is suggested.

Make-your-own sundaes will be offered at intermission. Admission will be $10 a couple, $5 for a single. Nondancers are invited to watch at no charge.

Board games

PARIS – The Paris Public Library invites area board game aficionados to test their acumen on Tuesday evenings by playing Scrabble. Starting July 17, the library will host friendly competitions, facilitated by Victoria Hill.

Play will commence at 6:30.

Hymn sing

RAYMOND – The East Raymond Chapel at 394 Webbs Mills Road will hold its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 22. There will be refreshments at 6:30 p.m. followed by an old-fashioned hymn sing at approximately 6:45 p.m., with Eugene Long on the piano, Cassie Ratigan on flute, Virginia Beach on violin, Carol Hall on cello and Mimi Wetzel on the pump organ.

WEST PARIS – The West Paris Historical Society June meeting was held at Snow Falls with 24 members present. All brought picnic suppers.

Members decided to strip the wallpaper n the meeting room, prime all trim and walls then decide whether to pursue the annual first Saturday in August hall yard sale. This is the second important fundraiser of the year, and members are looking for clean resalable items.

The society will convene Monday, July 16, for the traditional meeting and open house. The meeting is open to the public.

Seniors trip

BETHEL – The Bethel Senior Citizens Club will meet at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, at the Bethel Area Health Center, to carpool to Naples for the trip on the Songo River Queen II. Members who need a ride may call Musa at 824-2483, Jane at 836-2882 or Nancy at 824-3350.

Bridge results

NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met June 29 at the Fare Share Commons when a 3-and-1/2-table Howell movement was played.

Finishing first in flight A and B were Suzanne Andrews and Carol Curran with Marilyn and Richard Canton second in A.

Third in A were Woody Mercier and Dick Allen. Second in B were Eleanor Griffin and Jim Dickens.

There will be another game Friday, July 6. All bridge players are invited.
