GORHAM, N.H. – The committee for the Grand Trunk Centennial Celebration, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 11, has announced that a meeting will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at the Gorham Historical Society Grand Trunk Railroad Station, 25 Railroad St.

All who have agreed to be involved or are interested in helping are invited to attend. The centennial celebration is a fundraiser for the Gorham Historical Society, a 501-C nonprofit organization, to help with upkeep of the facility and its displays.

There are a number of areas that need to be finalized for the big day, as well as a need for volunteers to help in a number of areas.

The day will include a model railroad show, antique and classic car show, arts, crafts, food, books, photography, postcards and special postal cancellation from the rear of a Railway Express Agency truck.

Local musical groups will perform, including Bill Adams and Denise Doucette and Band, Tree By Leaf group with Sirri (Burcalow) and Garrett, Community Bible Church Joyful Noise Praise Band and Quartet, as well as the Strawberry Farm Band from Bath.

There will also be a contra dance in the evening at Chapel Arts New England with music by the Shelburne Addition. Another special happening will be the appearance of the Dalton Gang, live cowboys and cowgirls.

A 50/50 raffle is going on until Aug. 11 through the society, with various members selling tickets. A silent auction for Aug. 11 is also being organized.

Retailers who want to be recognized with special advertising should contact the society for making a donation. This is the final week of accepting ads. Those who want to be included should get their copy to Mary Jane Ames before July 14.
