DURHAM – Two people escaped with only minor injuries in a single-car crash on Royalsborough Road on Wednesday.

According to investigating Trooper Michael Chavez, the driver, Kasim Sanyare, 25, lost control of his car when it skidded, went off the right shoulder, struck a utility pole, then passed back into the roadway and skidded across the southbound travel lane before coming to a stop at 495 Royalsborough Road.

Sanyare and his passenger, Maymuna Omar, 27, both of Lewiston, were taken by Durham Rescue and Lisbon Emergency to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for evaluation and treatment, but were not admitted.

Damage was estimated at $3,000 to Sanyare’s 1998 Toyota four-door in the 10:59 a.m. crash.
