Auburn Suburban Little League swept Lewiston, 7-2 and 16-11, to win the 9-and-10-year-old softball district championship and advance to the state tournament.

Makayla Norcross went 4-for-4 in the slugfest that clinched the title for ASLL. Hannah Smith added two hits, and Kory Norcross clubbed an inside-the-park home run. Tianna Harriman was the winning pitcher.

Emma Galipeau and Meagan Mathon each notched three hits for Lewiston.

Kory Norcross was the star at the plate and on the mound in the opening game of the series. In addition to eight strikeouts, she collected an inside-the-park homer and a triple. Makayla Norcross slapped two singles and threw out two runners at the plate. Caitie Williams was also a repeat hitter for ASLL.

Erica Lemieux was the lone repeat hitter for Lewiston, Makayla Brown also had a hit.

ASLL 11-year-olds outslug Gardiner

Elijah Moreshead hit a home run and joined Issac Lane and Brendan Pelletier as a repeat hitter in Auburn Suburban’s 18-10 victory over Gardiner during the 11-year-old District 5 playoffs.

Brandon Dubuc and Tyler Cabral combined for the pitching triumph. Cabral shut down the Gardiner offense over the final four innings, striking out four and making some strong defensive plays. Mike Cote also highlighted the Auburn glove effort.

Alex Nadeau and Josh Mashke were repeat hitters for Gardiner.

ASLL advances in the winner’s bracket to a showdown with Elliot Ave. Little League at 10 a.m. Saturday at the New Auburn complex.

Auburn Suburban team members are Tyler Cabral, Elijah Moreshead, Brendan Pelletier, Brandon Binette, Mike Cote, Issac Lane, Brandon Dubuc, Brooks Layman, Ian Wilson, Chris Rideout and Travis Lowell. Joe Cabral managed the team along with coaches David Lane and Jody Benson.

Elliot Ave. 11-12s top Augusta

Brian Wigant pitched five strong innings with late relief help from Luke Cote, staking Elliot Ave. Little League 11-and-12-year-old all-stars to a 7-4 victory over Augusta Little League.

Wigant and Cote combined for eight strikeouts and only two walks while tossing a five-hitter.

Cote was 2-for-3 with a triple and single for Elliot. Jake Bergeron and Sam Morin ripped doubles and Ryan Laverdiere slapped a single.

Zac Lachance hit a two-run home run for Augusta. Sam Hopkins had two singles. Chandler Shostak pitched well and notched a single.

Elliot takes on the winner of Thursday night’s game between South Lewiston and Gardiner at 10 a.m. Saturday.
